Vosne-Romanée
Vosne-Romanée is het Mekka voor liefhebbers van grote rode Bourgognes. Dit dorp huisvest de wereldberoemde Grand Crus La Tache, La Romanée, Romanée Conti, Richebourg, Romanée-St-Vivant, La Grande Rue, Echézeaux en Grands Echézeaux en ook een aantal illustere Premier Crus waaronder de legendarische Cros-Parentoux. De wijnen van Vosne-Romanée combineren al het goede en bezitten naast diepte en kracht ook een grote mate van verfijning en een schitterende fluwelen structuur. De topproducenten zijn hier Domaine de la Romanée Conti, Méo-Camuzet, Emmanuel Rouget, Comte Liger-Belair, Sylvain Cathiard, Domaine Leroy, Jean Grivot en Robert Arnoux.
Vosne-Romanée "Vieilles Vignes", Perrot-Minot 2008
Afkomstig van oude stokken van de akkers Aux Ormes en Les Chalandins, beiden gelegen aan de noordkant van Vonse-Romanée. Intens diepe kleur. De neus is nog wat gesloten, maar bezit tonen van donkere vruchtjes en specerijen en aardse elementen. Intense smaak, mooie frisheid, bosfruit, specerijen, lengte en veel mineraliteit. Zeer gebalanceerde wijn. Getypeerd door de hoge leeftijd van de stokken.

Jaar in jaar uit een van de beste Vosne-Romanée villages. Dit komt mede doordat zo'n 80 procent van de druiven afkomstig is van de zeer hoog aangeschreven akker les Barreaux. Burghound: Méo noted that in 2007 this wine was concentrated approximately 5% to compensate for the young vines. A rather floral nose of red berry fruit, spice and warm earth notes merges into rich, full and naturally sweet flavors that are detailed, direct and energetic. Nice enough without really being distinguished.

International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby-red. Black cherry and chocolate on the nose, along with a light leesy quality. Sweet, dense and rather large-scaled for village wine. This boasts serious volume and a sturdy constitution but it's aromatically resrved compared to the Nuits. Sound acids and ripe tannins give this very good balance and carry the finish 88-90".

Burghound: "There is the very surprising absence of reduction given that the malo has, according to Rouget, not quite finished and that this had not been racked. A pretty and highly spiced red and black berry fruit nose merges into rich, full and intensely minerally middle weight flavors that possess good cut and definition on the refined and energetic finish. This has real verve with first rate transparency. Recommended. Outstanding. 89-92".

International Wine Cellar: "Very good deep red. Black fruits, licorice, dark chocolate and sweet oak on the very ripe nose. Large-scaled and compellingly sweet, with wonderfully ripe, sappy dark berry flavors conveying a chewy impression of solidity. A very ripe 2006 whose solid tannic backbone and excellent persistence suggest that it will evolve slowly. If you can't wait to taste this, give it time in a decanter first. 94".

Stephan Tanzer: "Good medium red. Very ripe aromas of raspberry, smoked meat, coffee and exotic spices. Silky-sweet and slightly high-toned but not at all over the top; shows more grip than the Echezeaux. This rich, chewy wine possesses more stuffing to support its tannins and finishes with more impressive length."

Grands-Echézeaux Grand Cru, Domaine Romanée-Conti 2006
Burghound: "(55+ year old vines). As it usually is relative to the Echézeaux, the restrained nose is distinctly more reserved but classier with a wonderfully intense and layered nose that is more floral still while offering up a variety of spice notes, including anise, clove and soy that can also be found on the pure and sleekly muscled flavors that possess real drive, indeed this does a slow but sure build from the mid-palate on through the explosive finish. This is an interesting wine in that the natural robustness of a fine GE is present but the natural elegance of the vintage tames it somewhat and one could quite accurately describe the ’06 GE as robustly elegant yet distinctly understated and not be wrong. Despite the elegance, this will need plenty of cellar time. 94/2021+".

Burghound: "An ultra elegant, pure and quite delicately fruited and spiced nose that is extremely fresh, floral and expansive that is more layered still as it introduces seductively textured, detailed and gorgeously delineated middle weight flavors that possess laser-like focus if less density than is usually seen with this wine. Indeed, this is rather like a ballerina with limited power and weight but the watch word here is purity, purity and purity. I quite like this but it will strike some as unduly light though I believe the underlying material is present such that it will add weight in bottle as it ages".
