De wijnen die onder de relatief onbekende benaming Côte de Nuits-Villages op de markt komen kunnen afkomstig zijn uit de gemeenten Brochon, Comblachien, Corgolain, Prémeaux en Fixin. Alleen wijnen uit de laatste gemeente kunnen kiezen onder welke naam ze door het leven gaan. Het is jammer dat de naam Côte de Nuits-Villages niet de uitstraling heeft die het verdient, want er zitten prachtige wijnen tussen. Ook wordt deze “appellation communale” in de praktijk vaak verwisseld met de appellation Hautes Côtes de Nuits (appellation regionale) dus een trede lager in de hiërarchie.

Srah Marsh: "From vines in Brochon, the largest parcel lies in Queue de Hareng between Fixin Perrières and Evocelles in Gevrey. The grapes yielded are regularly very small with a good skin to pulp ratio. 25% of this cuvée is in new oak. Bright fruit exudes plum and briars notes – darker and denser than the Bourgogne. The freshness and the fine tannins round out nicely on the finish. Very attractive. From 2009".

Burghound: "A pure, fresh, ripe and layered red currant, wood spice and warm earth suffused nose serves as a very pretty introduction to the supple and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors that coat the palate and culminate in a balanced and lingering finish. This too is quite pretty."

Côte de Nuits-Villages, Emmanuel Rouget 2009
Afkomstig van een akker binnen de gemeente Corgoloin. Dieper dan de Bourgogne rouge. Mooi donker fruit, iets “spicy” met zachte, rijpe tannines en een mooie mineraliteit. Een zeer fraaie wijn. Burghound: "A relatively high-toned red pinot fruit and plum suffused nose gives way to cool, pure and restrained middle weight flavors that exude plenty of vibrancy and punch on the delicious and persistent finish. This possesses ample dry extract that almost completely buffers the moderately firm tannic spine on the tension-filled and ever-so-slightly warm finale. Very good quality for the appellation."
