The Wine Advocate over de 2009; “Burgaud’s 2009 Morgon Cote de Py displays a striking intensity of fresh red and black raspberries alluringly inflected by vanilla, mint, toasted hickory, pencil lead, and smoked meat; an amazing alliance of density and silken texture with high-spirited brightness and vivacity; and a vibrant, gripping, saliva-inducing, lip-smackingly saline finish. This phenomenal value should provide an extraordinary drinking experience over at least a half dozen years. 92-93 points”

Het betreft hier een selectie van de oudste stokken (sommige zelfs tegen de honderd jaar aan). De wijn kreeg een opvoeding op houten vaatjes (Francois Frères). Een fantastische Morgon.

Morgon Côte du Py, Cuvée Javernières, Jean Marc Burgaud 2008
De wijnen voor deze cuvée zijn afkomstig van een perceel aan de oostkant van de voet van de Côte du Py. Dit bijzondere terroir bezit een bodem die rijk is aan klei en ijzeroxide. De wijn kreeg zijn opvoeding op houten vaten (vier in totaal) die eerder gebruikt zijn voor de Romanée Saint-Vivant van DRC. Enorm intense en verfijnde wijn.

Morgon Javernières "Les Impénitens", Louis Claude Desvignes 2009
Intens diepe donker kleur. De wijn bezit een enorme materie, veel intensiteit en vraagt de nodige jaren rijping. Volgens Desvignes kan hij met gemak een jaar of twintig mee. Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France ** = producteur de tres grands vins, dans les meilleurs crus de France. Michel Bettane: “nous considérons ce domaine comme la référence de l’appellation Morgon”.

The International Wine Cellar: "Bright purple. Black raspberry, cherry, star anise and potpourri on the nose, with a touch of white pepper adding lift and spiciness. Densely packed with red and dark berry fruit but remains light on its feet, with subtle smoke and herb notes adding complexity. Packs a serious punch but comes off lithe, with excellent finishing clarity, grip and persistent spiciness."

Morgon (magnum), Marcel Lapierre 2009
The Wine Advocate: "Exuberant strawberry and red raspberry in confitured and distilled form are threaded with lilac inner-mouth floral perfume, striking notes of blood orange rind, nutmeg, toasted pecan, blond tobacco, and subtle hints of game and forest floor. Silken in texture, sappy and pungent, this finishes with an exhilaratingly animated exchange of fruit, flower, and mineral elements and a sense of levity rare for its vintage. It will be worth following for at least 6-8 years, though one ought only to cellar Lapierre’s low-sulfur wines if one’s conditions are optimum. If there has been a finer example of this wine, I can’t recall – and the September bottling will probably prove superior, hence the “+?” in my rating."
