Buisson-Charles
Dit minuscule domein (slechts 5 hectare) maakt de laatste jaren razendsnel furore en behoort momenteel tot de absolute topproducenten van Meursault. De leiding is in handen van Catherine Buisson en haar echtgenoot Patrick Essa, maar vader Michel (alhoewel enige jaren met pensioen) is nog dagelijks in de wijngaarden te vinden. Buisson-Charles heeft akkers binnen diverse zeer hoog aangeschreven crus in Meursault (Charmes, Bouches-Chères, Goutte d’Or, les Cras) en bezit daarnaast ook enkele percelen in de gemeentes Pommard en Volnay. De kwaliteit van zowel rood als wit is indrukwekkend. De stijl van de wijnen is zeer klassiek. Ze bezitten een grote rijkdom, fraaie zuren en een enorme mineraliteit en kunnen zeer lang rijpen. Dit is mede te danken aan de hoge leeftijd van de stokken die in sommige percelen zelfs boven de 100 jaar ligt. Door de grote vraag (de wijnen worden in de vakbladen de hemel in geprezen) en de kleine productie (slechts enkele vaatjes per wijn) zijn de wijnen bijzonder schaars. Van het hier zeer geslaagde oogstjaar 2008 bied ik u de Meursault Vieilles Vignes en de Meursault 1er Cru Bouches-Chères aan en daarnaast enkele fraaie rode wijnen. Vanaf de oogst 2009 verwacht ik ook met de andere crus te kunnen werken. Gault & Millau 2011 ****** = Domaine Exceptionelle. Bourgogne Rouge, Buisson-Charles 2008
Opmerkelijk fraaie Bourgogne Rouge van een niveau dat je slechts zelden tegenkomt in de Côte de Beaune. Patrick Essa is (volkomen terecht) bijzonder trots op zijn rode Bourgogne. Het geheim, oude stokken, lage opbrengsten en een serieuze opvoeding vergelijkbaar aan die van de Pommard en Volnay.

Meursault "Vieilles Vignes", Buisson-Charles 2009

Volnay 1er Cru Santenots, Buisson-Charles 2008
Burghound: “A seductively complex, elegant and pure nose of ripe red pinot fruit, cassis, floral and spice notes lead to mouth coating, sappy and dense medium-bodied flavors replete with ample dry extract that completely buffers the firm tannic spine and confers a velvety texture onto the balanced and lingering finish. This will require the better part of a decade to be at its best. Sweet spot, outstanding!”

Meursault "Tessons", Buisson-Charles 2009
Burghound: "(from vines planted in 1964 and aged in 20% new wood). This offers a small step up in aromatic complexity with notes of pear, white peach, green apple and wet stone nuances. There is fine volume and concentration to the rich, round and amply powerful flavors that are fresh and vibrant while culminating in a superbly persistent finish. This is not as opulent as the straight Meursault but there is more here. A knockout villages and this is definitely highly recommended for its level. 91/2014+"

Volnay 1er Cru Santenots, Buisson-Charles 2009
Burghound: 'A ripe, spicy and expressive nose features notes of plum, red currant and floral hints that complement well the rich, minerally and precise medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent mid-palate concentration and volume. The tannins are quite firm but there is an abundance of buffering-sap and the balance is impeccable on the wonderfully long finish. Note that this a relatively delicate Santenots and while it's built to age, the structure is not aggressive. Sweet spot outstanding!"

Burghound: “As elegant as the Goutte d'Or is, the Bouchères goes it one better with its mélange of white peach, spiced pear and dried rose petal aromas that slide gracefully into precise yet quite densely textured flavors that brim with dry extract and superb length. This is an explosive wine that finishes bone dry and manages to combine impressive power with balance and focus. I actually prefer the delivery of this to the Goutte d'Or but at present at least, it doesn't quite have the same degree of complexity. A qualitative choice but both are worth considering. Sweet spot, Outstanding!”

Meursault 1er Cru Bouches-Chères, Buisson-Charles 2009
Burghound: "Here the nose is slightly more elegant with a pretty array of saline, citrus, floral and spiced pear aromas that are in keeping with the lightly mineral-inflected, textured and ultra-pure middle weight flavors that culminate in a linear and driving finish. This is extremely dry, indeed it is unusually dry for the vintage and while it will undoubtedly put on weight and flesh as it ages, it could at present pass for a fine Chablis. 93/2015+"

Burghound: "A restrained to the point of being discreet set of aromas offers up strikingly complex, pure and spicy ripe white and yellow orchard fruit that complements the succulent, intense and gorgeously delineated flavors that possess superb mid-palate concentration on the explosive and almost painfully intense bone dry finish. This is a ‘wow’ wine and a true knockout. 95/2015+"
