Fabien Duperray is eigenaar van Vinifera, een bedrijf dat gespecialiseerd is in de distributie van grote Bourgognes aan de Franse toprestauratie en tevens de export van enkele prestigieuze domeinen verzorgt. Enkele jaren geleden realiseerde hij zijn droom door zelf wijnboer te worden. Duperray kocht diverse percelen met zeer oude stokken (veelal boven de 100 jaar en de oudste zelfs 160 jaar) op de beste percelen binnen de appellations Moulin-à -Vent en Fleurie. In totaal beslaat het domein 7 hectare. Er wordt biologisch-dynamisch gewerkt en alle arbeid gebeurt handmatig of met het paard, een zeer arbeidsintensieve aangelegenheid en daarom zijn er vier man in vaste dienst. Na de pluk worden de druiven in kleine kratjes naar de kelder gebracht. Hier vindt opnieuw een zeer strenge selectie plaats, liefst 21 mensen verdeeld over twee “tables de tri” en twee “tables vibrant” zorgen ervoor dat alleen de beste druiven voor de wijn gebruikt worden. De opbrengsten liggen uitzonderlijk laag, gemiddeld rond de 20hl. per hectare. Tijdens de vinificatie en rijping maakt Duperray gebruik van de adviezen van zijn vrienden Christophe Perrot-Minot en Jean-Yves Bizot. Rijping vindt plaats op (deels nieuwe) 400 liter fusten van het beste Franse eiken. Na zo’n 18 maanden worden de wijnen zonder filtering of klaring gebotteld. Fabien Duperray zet met zijn wijnen zonder twijfel een nieuwe standaard in de Beaujolais.

Fleurie, Jules Desjourneys 2007
David Schildknecht: "Duperray’s 2007 Fleurie – pure Moriers – displays game and underbrush along with narcissus-like musky florality on the nose. Smoky black tea, meat stock, and a maritime mingling of salinity and alkalinity add further complexity on a palate whose ripe fresh black fruits come off as practically an afterthought. This relatively lean but profound Fleurie of only, exactly 12% alcohol (!) needs time in the air due to its still being a bit reduced, which Duperray attributes to his intentions that customers should keep hands off these 2007s for a bit longer, but which he also thinks is accentuated by his use of a specially selected, high-elevation-grown one-Euro “precautionary” cork."

Moulin-à-Vent, Jules Desjourneys 2007
David Schildknecht: "The Desjourneys 2007 Moulin-a-Vent – from the same parcels that informed the corresponding 2008 – is scented with peony, iris, black raspberry, resin, and black tea. A hint of reduction no doubt enhances the sense of smokiness on a firm, bright palate underlain by a sense of salted beef stock. There is once again a sense of white wine clarity about this, yet with plenty of black fruit richness. And how many dry Rieslings nowadays can boast the delicacy of a mere 12% alcohol like this infectiously juicy Moulin-a-Vent? The empty glass – wherein the wine breaks completely free from reduction – is riveting in its melange of flowers, tea, black fruit essences, as well as mineral and carnal nuances."
